Edibles are a great option for patients who can benefit from the increased duration of effects over other forms of cannabis ingestion, as edibles’ effects can last anywhere from four to eight hours. If you have throat sensitivities or a compromised immune system, edibles are also a great way to ingest without being exposed to the smoke from inhaling raw cannabis flower. One drawback of edibles is the increased onset time however. Edibles can take anywhere from twenty to ninety minutes to kick in. We always recommend patients wait two hours before increasing your dose for this reason. A good rule of thumb is to start with a 5MG THC dose if you are new to edibles, and then slowly raise it until you experience the desired effects. Starting with a microdose will help you find your MED (Minimum Effective Dose) and help you avoid overconsumption.
