A registered practitioner under New York law is a licensed physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant who has taken the Health Commissioner’s approved medical marijuana course and registered with the New York State Department of Health’s Medical Marijuana Program. These are the only health care providers who may certify patients for the medical use of cannabis.
