Multiple myeloma is a form of cancer and there is no medically recognized role for cannabis as direct treatment for any cancer. Medical cannabis can be enormously helpful in reducing the discomfort of common symptoms associated with cancers such multiple myeloma, including the side effects of the chemotherapy agents commonly used for that condition. Much basic science shows that cannabinoids are active in body systems that are involved in cancer, but clinical science has still not developed a reliable way to make use of these findings. Because cannabis is basically non-toxic to the body many people with cancer have opted to try various folk medicine cannabis remedies along with their other treatment, and this is likely not causing harm and may well be helping. But in no way would I recommend using medical cannabis as the primary treatment of any cancer, including multiple myeloma.
