Q&A

What type of cannabis for chronic back pain?

"What products, dosages and ratios of THC:CBD do you find help you all through the day, all day (while not making you lazy) & sleep at night? What dosage works for you (I know everyone’s tolerance is different)? I have a very high tolerance to pharmaceutical pain killers but am just starting to try cannabis. I have degenerative disc disease, facet arthropathy & mild stenosis in my low back (main issues), insomnia and anxiety among some psychiatric diagnoses. I am in some pain all day everyday which restricts my mobility and ability to participate in certain things and sometimes throw my back out good and am disabled/bed bound for a couple weeks. "

Hello! I have found that consuming cannabis through inhalation is an effective way to dull your back pain, though to truly combat it, you will want to try cannabis topicals.

Cannabis is very effective at reducing pain and inflammation systemically, though I find that this effect is not as strong as the local application cannabinoids to your affected areas. For some topicals, the results are felt within minutes and last hours. I often forget that I have applied a topical to my back, begin to feel good for a few hours, and then wrack my brain trying to figure out what on earth I did yesterday to make my back feel so great! Also, topicals will not cause you to feel intoxicated or "high."

I have also heard that the rectal administration of products designed for this kind of administration work very effectively for back pain.

Look for whole-plant CBD with very small amounts of THC to take advantage of the known inflammation reduction of cannabinoids without the effects of THC. You can read more on our blog about whole-plant. We also have a doctor available to work with our customers to find the right serving size.
