Q&A

What is Delta 8?

Delta 8 tetrahydrocannabinol is otherwise known as THC, the more common & "stronger" of the 50+ cannabinoids found in the cannabis plants & products. Although it gets a bad rap at times, THC for many patients is useful for sleep and for certain types of pain conditions. I hope this helps!

Hi there!

Delta-8 is a cannabinoid with a similar structure to Delta-9 – what many people know as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive properity in cannabis. Although they have a similar structure, Delta-8 has about one-third of the psychoactivity of THC.

Here is a great article with more information on Delta-8 and what it is good for: https://www.hellomd.dev/health-wellness/5b23ea3fbf4c4d000a0e749d/what-is-delta-8-thc-and-whats-it-good-for

I hope this information helps! ๐Ÿ™‚

Hello,
Delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol is the molecule we all think of when we hear the moniker "THC". Delta-8 tetrahydrocannabinol is what’s called an isomer of Delta-9 THC, which means that they have the exact same atoms in the molecule; however, they differ in how they are arranged. This small alteration leads to differences in how and what the two molecules interact with — the cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) being the most pertinent. Binding the CB1 receptor in the brain is what leads to psychoactivity, hunger, as well as anxiety, pain and nausea relief.ย  Delta-8 seems to cause much less psychoactivity than does Delta-9, while maintaining appetite stimulating, and anxiety, pain and nausea relieving properties. So, while Delta-9 THC has many medicinal properties, Delta-8 THC might help treat many of the same ailments with considerably less psychoactivity.

Delta-8 THC was evaluated as an anti-nausea medication for cancer patients. When researchers administered Delta-8 to pediatric cancer patients (3 to 13 years old) undergoing chemotherapy, post-treatment vomiting was completely prevented while avoiding unwanted side effects, such as psychoactivity and heightened anxiety.

Delta-8 is also being studied as an anti-cancer treatment.
