Hello. Transient acantholytic dermatosis (Grover’s disease) is a condition involving itchy red spots on the trunk, most often in older men. The rash from Grover’s disease can be extraordinarily itchy. Treatments include: high-potency steroid creams, such as triamcinolone or clobetasol, along with antihistamines, such as diphenhydramine (Benadryl) or hydroxyzine (Vistaril, Atarax).
Clinical Studies find the Following:
Topical cannabinoids are effective for alleviating irritation of human skin and able to relieve itch, but not because it acts as an antihistamine. Rather, because cannabinoids seem to act on nerve fibers (2003).
Cannabinoids provide a “putative itch frontier.” The authors isolated what is known as “cannabinoid receptor 1” as having an important involvement in histamine-related itches. They also noted the anti-inflammatory properties of cannabinoids, as well as the fact that they may have an effect on the neuronal network of the skin (2006).
I would recommend a 1:1 THC/CBD tincture 5mg and a 1:1 THC/CBD topical lotion.
