Q&A

Should I be concerned about flying with my medical cannabis?

"I am Flying from Oakland to Los Angeles and would like to bring my medicine with me."

Airports are under federal jurisdiction and as such under federal law which means that cannabis, as a Schedule 1 drug, is still illegal to posses. That being said, as far as I understand, the TSA is not looking for cannabis specifically, just weapons etc. WHat I have heard is that if they search your carry on bag and find cannabis they may call over the local police and ask them what they want to do. It then depends on the local police to decide what to do with the cannabis and you.

Since you are traveling within California, and assuming that you have a valid recommendation, you should be able to purchase cannabis in Los Angeles when you arrive and avoid any stress that carrying it may cause you.
