Q&A

Remicade and Cannabis interactions.

"Hello, my mother has a rare form of sarcoidosis in her spine. The virus has greatly weakened her ability to use her legs and get around, along with causing great pain. She is currently on a regimen of Remicade infusions, as well as taking Micophenilate. I am very interested in having her try a CBD tincture, as I have read that doctors are finding success using CBD to treat inflammation and nerve damage, which she has. I want to make sure that Cannabis won’t negatively interact with the medications she’s on. Does anyone have any experience with this? Also, it seems like a 3:1 CBD to THC ratio would be best for her condition. Does anyone have a different recommendation? Thank you so much. "

Cannabis is an extremely safe herb with no toxic effects or overdose potential. It should not interfere with the the Remicade infusions. I would try very high doses of CBD (with some amount of THC), as this will provide anti-inflammatory effects. Sarcoidosis is an auto-inflammatory condition, it is not caused by a virus. Minimizing inflammation is key.
