Re-evaluation by a family doctor with prop. 64?

"I was told that if I get a medical card now and want to renew it later, I’d have to go to my actual family doctor to get my prescription re-evaluated because of the passing of proposition 64. Is this true?"

No. First there is no "prescription" for cannabis. It is a recommendation. Second any physician can write for a recommendation for cannabis, either a HelloMD physician or another one who is taking responsibility for "an aspect" of your care, in this case the using of cannabis for your medical condition. You can bring up the subject of medical cannabis with your family doctor and see what their reaction is. For the most part, most are unfamiliar with cannabis and have no idea what it can do or how to even suggest using it.
