Q&A

Is there any research that indicates marijuana can cure cancer?

"My husband currently takes medical cannabis for spinal cord cancer and hopefully eliminate this health problem. Is there any big research done on this topic? He has a hard time adjusting to the THC, we need to reach 150 mg/day; any advice on that?"

Cannabis helps patients of spinal cord diseases manage their symptoms. Most spinal cord diseases have no cure, so the focus of treatment is on limiting the diseaseโ€™s progression with medications, surgery and physical therapy, while simultaneously managing its associated symptoms. Research studies have shown that medical cannabis can improve pain, sleeping problems, bladder control, spasticity, muscle twitching and depression commonly associated with spinal cord diseases. CBD, in particular, has significant analgesic (pain-relieving) and anti-inflammatory activity without the psychoactive effect (high) of THC. Extensive clinical research has shown that a 1:1 CBD:THC ratio is effective for neuropathic pain. I recommend a 1:1 CBD:THC dosage. However if he is having trouble with adjusting to the THC then consider a CBD dominant remedy with low THC and gradually increase the amount of THC to a tolerable level.
