Unfortunately, CBD will not suppress appetite.
Cannabis’ effect of appetite stimulation is derived from THC’s binding to the CB1 receptor, which then prompts the release of hunger-promoting hormones. CBD has little binding affinity for either of the two cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2) and therefore has no effect on appetite.
However, the cannabanoid THCV has gained much attention because it has been shown to reduce appetite in animal models. THCV seems to block CB1 receptors at lower doses and thus reduce THC’s effect on appetite stimulation. Unfortunately, no concentrated or isolated THCV products are available as of yet.
In short, at this stage, THCV, CBD or anything cannabis related, should not be relied upon as an appetite suppressant. Alternatively, you can reduce the appetite stimulating effects of cannabis by using high CBD strains or other products with a lower THC concentration. However, this effect is due to the lower THC content rather than the increased CBD.
