Hello, and thank you for your question. I believe you are asking whether one milligram of THC has the same effect whether derived from indica or sativa strains. This is a very common question and concern, so thank you for asking that question on this forum.
Indica strains are known for being physically sedating, perfect for relaxing with a movie or as a nightcap before bed. Sativas typically provide more invigorating, uplifting cerebral effects that pair well with physical activity, social gatherings, and creative projects.
The varying effects of sativa and indica are mostly attributed to the relative ratios of CBD versus THC.
- CBD has been shown to have analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anxiolytic and sedative properties without the psychoactive effects (the โhighโ or โstonedโ feeling) that THC provides.
- THC is responsible for most of the psychoactive effects of marijuana, such as elation, disorientation, compromised coordination, anxiety and even paranoia.
Indicas tend to provide more relief from insomnia, pain and anxiety mainly due to the higher concentration of CBDs relative to THC. Hence the common moniker "chill weed" or the term "body high."
Whereas sativas tend to cause more elation (mind high) and have a much higher propensity to cause the very common side effect of heightened anxiety or even paranoia. As you may have already devised, the contrasting effects of sativa strains are mainly due to the higher relative concentration of THC to CBD – when compared to indica.
