Q&A

Is it safe to take cbd oil with lamictal for absence seizures?

"My son takes 60 mg of lamictal, two times a day. His seizures are under control, but it affects his mood. Is it safe to incorporate cbd oil with his treatment?"

Always check with your doctor BUT yes CBD would be beneficial to take as a supplement to your son’s lamictal prescription. I highly recommend looking into products like Evieโ€™s Drops from CBD Alive or Jayden Juice CBD Tincture.

Hi there! I am not a doctor and don’t have experience with this, so please do not take this as medical advice. I would encourage you to take a look at this article: https://unitedpatientsgroup.com/blog/2016/03/02/guest-post-a-fathers-perspective-personal-experience-clinical-studies-show-high-cbd-cannabis-provides-mood-stabilization-for-bipolarschizophrenia

It sounds similar to your situation, and I would read the comments below the article as well. A lof of people have chimed in on this, and for many of them, their children were taking Lamictal when they introduced them to CBD.

Hopefully one of our doctors will have a chance to give you some advice as well. In the meantime, I hope this information is helpful!

Often parents do use CBD to supplement and/or wean off of traditional antiepileptics. However, dosing of the CBD can be tricky, and there are known medication interactions between CBD and AEDs, so this is definitely a journey you need to undertake with the full cooperation of your neurologist. I hope it works out well for you.
