Q&A

Is it safe to take CBD oil and SSRI at the same time?

It is possible that using CBD oil and SSRI at the same time, the blood pressure may drop. That could become dangerous if one is engaged in sports and falls over from a blood pressure drop. CBD should help reduce the need for SSRIs. Start the CBD oil in small doses spread out throughout the day but cut the SSRI dose in half by taking a pill every other day. You will still need to use caution and watch the blood pressure or pay attention if you feel dizzy.

You do have endocannabinoid receptors so the CBD is actually more effective at reducing depression but it does take 3 to 4 weeks before you feel the full benefit of CBD. Be sure that your vitamin D level is above 55 ng/ml for optimal functioning of your body and to be certain that the depression is not from vitamin D deficiency.

Continued to reduce the dose of SSRI medication by spreading your pills out from every other day to one every third day or every fourth day and slowly go off the SSRI medication. If at any point your body freaks out missing the SSRI, you may take one or two extra pills but then continue with the dose reduction schedule.

The body likes SSRIs but there is no need to take them past six months. Ultimately, You may want to have your genetic chart done to see if you have a neurotransmitter instability and that is the matter of plugging in the right nutrients to make your genetic chart work right and CBD does help your genetic chart. Just use caution especially when you first start taking the CBD oil.

What is your dose of CBD oil? I usually recommend a high CBD concentration with low THC for best results with the least number of drops.

Hopefully, this information helps but keep in mind everyone is different and there is no one right answer for everyone. If your aim is to redo shoot use of SSRI medication, CBD is the way to go but you may want to add a little more THC in the evening to help you sleep deeply.

Cannabis is a very safe herb that has never caused an overdose death. SSRI’s can cause many severe side effects and have some major interactions with other drugs and foods. However, there should be no major interactions or contra-indications in using cannabis and SSRI.

However, this will depend on your reasons for taking the SSRI and cannabis. I would be very careful and proceed with caution in increasing or decreasing the dose of cannabis or SSRI. CBD is especially well tolerated and is best taken in a whole plant formulation.

I have been taking CBD oil for the last 6 weeks so I could reduce my dose of sertraline as it was badly affecting my ability to orgasm. I reduced the dose of sertraline from 200mg a day down to 150mg for two weeks and then down to 100mg plus a few drops of 3% CBD oil every evening. The effect has been great. My anxiety is lower than it was even on 200mg of Sertraline, I’ve been sleeping better, and sexually I am performing as normal.

I am a big fan of Sertraline and have been using it for 20 years. It has had a really positive affect on my life enabling me to build a decent career, get married and have kids. So I am in no way anti sertraline or SSRI’s and I have not had negative side effects until, on my doctor’s advice, I had doubled my does from 100mg to 200mg about a year ago as I am going through a divorce.
I did originally go to my doctor about the anorgasmic side affects and asked for a different type of anti depressant. We discussed options (Bupropin, Remeron, Luvox etc)but he didn’t rate them.
