Q&A

I have to take statins following a TIA 2 months ago.

"How long a gap should I leave before taking my daily micro dose of CBD oil, 35% strength? Thanks in anticipation of your reply."

Hello. CBD is a potent inhibitor of CYP3A4. CYP3A4 metabolizes about a quarter of all drugs, therefore CBD may increase serum concentrations of some statins (atorvastatin and simvastatin, but not pravastatin or rosuvastatin). In addition, an acute and severe cardiovascular illness is a relative contraindication for medical marijuana, however, studies show that administering CBD shortly after a stroke protects neurons and astrocytes from damage, and leads to improved functional and neurobehavior recovery. Administering CBD shortly following an ischemic event caused about a 50% increase in the recovery of electrical activity in the brain and reduced infarct volume and improved brain functional outcome. Although it is relatively safe, please collaborate with your primary care physician in regards to your CBD consumption as an extra saftey precaution.
