I have Grave's disease. Will medical marijuana help?

"I have swelling in my hands and feet. If cannabis can help me, what type should I use?"

Cannabis can definitely have effects on the immune system, so this is a smart question since Grave’s disease is an autoimmune disorder. I couldn’t find any clear medical evidence regarding cannabis and Grave’s, but in other autoimmune disorders, cannabis can help calm the inflammation that can lead to disease symptoms such as pain and swelling. However, often patients undergoing different treatments for Grave’s disease may have symptoms related to the side effects of medications, surgery, or fluctuating blood thyroid hormone levels, so it would be wise to check with your physician first to be sure your symptoms don’t require more workup.
