Q&A

I have a lot of inflammation, can CBD help with fibromyalgia?

"My joints hurt a lot and my doctor says I may have fibromyalgia. Is there a difference between hemp CBD or CBD with THC from marijuana? "

Yes CBD can be extremely beneficial for people suffering from fibromyalgia. The chemical compound in CBD helps reduce inflammation, which would alleviate your muscle pain. There are several differences between CBD oil and hemp derived oil. CBD oil is extracted from the actual cannabis plant, whereas hemp derived oil is extracted from the seeds of the hemp plant. The seeds of a hemp plant contain very low levels of CBD when compared to a cannabis plant, which can have high levels of CBD.
Hemp derived oil is used mainly for health benefits, while CBD oil is used medicinally. Hemp seeds are high in Omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamin E, and other beneficial aspects.

Mr. Savelli has some very good ideas concerning CBD. Every fibromyalgia pt is different. In my experience, I usually recommend pt’s try products that have both CBD & THC (especially if pt’s have sleep issues as well). Mr. Savelli also mentioned omega-3’s in hemp seed as well which is also a good suggestion; omega-3’s from fish oil, hemp, or even flaxseed are all good choices. I would add that fibro treatment is tricky and needs to be multidisciplinary. I’ve had the best success when also including for the pt: 1) a daily mild exercse & stretch regimen & 2) cognitive behavioural psychotherapy (to retrain your brain to handle pain). I hope all these tips prove useful!
