Q&A

How long does it take for the pain relief properties of CBD oil to take effect. I have been using for a week and have not seen any difference in pain levels.

Hi there!
CBD’s analgesic properties are derived from its anti-inflammatory effects. CBD reduces inflammation by manipulating the inflammatory cascade to produce fewer pro-inflammatory pain mediators, such as tumor necrosis factor alpha and prostaglandin E2. CBD also modulates the CB1 and CB2 receptors to support the analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects of THC, and also inhibits the enzymes that metabolize THC, thereby further supporting THC. These effects occur soon after CBD enters the circulation; onset of pain relief should take no longer than 30 minutes when taking a CBD oil.

However, CBD is lipophilicโ€”so it can and will be stored in fat. Therefore, chronic administration could lead to a slow release of CBD from adipose (fat) tissue, back into the circulation. Although, that would not explain why you’ve yet to experience any pain relief when taking CBD.

In general, I would recommend: increasing the dose; trying different brands; ensuring that you’re taking the CBD correctly; consider adding THC.

I hope this helps!
