Q&A

How do you get a medical marijuana card in Florida?

Good news- Florida passed a medical marijuana law in 2016! Unfortunately, it is not yet operational.

Qualifying conditions in Florida are as follows:
-Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), otherwise known as Lou Gehrig’s disease
-Cancer
-Crohn’s disease
-Epilepsy
-Glaucoma
-HIV/AIDS
-Multiple sclerosis (MS)
-Parkinson’s disease
-Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
-Seizures
-Terminal illness (patients diagnosed as having 12 months or less to live)
-other debilitating medical conditions

Patients will need to obtain a physician’s recommendation confirming they have one of the qualifying conditions. They will then be able to legally obtain cannabis from a state-licensed dispensary; although there are not any currently operating in the state. The amounts of marijuana that patients are allowed to possess have yet to be determined.
