"Hello! Wondering if anyone has healed their thyroid condition with Cannabis? Thank you! xx Claire"
As you probably already know, Hashimoto’s disease causes inflammation of the thyroid, which may start out with too much hormone being released but inevitably winds up with the thyroid scarred and unable to make sufficient hormone. This usually renders the patient hypothyroid and needing to take thyroid supplements. There is no published evidence that medicinal cannabis can alter the course of this disease, but there is laboratory science showing cannabinoids may moderate the biochemistry of the autoimmune inflammatory response. Given the low to non-existent toxicity of CBD, and cannabis in general, many patients are experimenting on their own to see if medicinal cannabis is helpful in conditions like this. Their anecdotal reports have folk medicine value, but at this point there is no science to guide specific recommendations for "treatment."
