Q&A

Does mixing cannabis with hemp make it more effective?

Hemp and cannabis actually come from the same plant – cannabis sativa. But cannabis strains can contain different amounts of THC (the psychoactive ingredient) and CBD, which isn’t psychoactive and is used for medicinal purposes in a variety of products. Hemp contains almost no THC, but it has high levels of CBD – often more than cannabis. So by mixing, say, cannabis oil and hemp oil, you could get higher levels of CBD than with either one alone. If you’re looking for higher levels of THC, though, mixing hemp with cannabis wouldn’t be very effective, since the THC content of hemp is typically less than 0.3 percent.
