Do you still renew medical marijuana licenses? I’d like to get my medical marijuana recommendation and would like to know what to do. My medical marijuana card is going to expire in a couple of months. Do I automatically get a renewal notice, or how do I get it extended?

i think renewal of your license depends on where you live. iโm in pittsburgh and the state dept of health site – https://www.health.pa.gov/topics/programs/Medical%20Marijuana/Pages/Renew.aspx – says โyou no longer need to renew your registration in order to maintain your participation in the Medical Marijuana Program.โ
and – โYou will need to obtain an annual patient certification from a certified physician. 60 days before the expiration date of your patient certification and ID card, you will receive an email letting you know that it is time to obtain a new patient certification. You can get a patient certification from any registered practitioner. You do not have to see the same doctor who issued your initial patient certification.โ check your own state for info.

Quite right: It does depend on where you live. In Illinois, for example, there are two types of renewals. First there is an โextension renewal,โ which is a yearly incremental renewal for patients that did not purchase a three-year card at the onset of registering and wish to continue with the Medical Cannabis Patient Program. (They donโt require healthcare professional certification.)
And then there is a โfull certification renewal.โ This is a renewal for patients that have had their cards for three years or whose card has expired. Patients have to see their certifying health care professional for a new updated online health care professional certification.
But if you are asking if you can renew the medical card you initially received through HelloMD the answer is a definite yes. You just need to login to your account on HelloMD, and click the ‘Renew my card’ button on top. Then follow the simple steps to renew, which will include consulting one of our doctors again. All your previous medical records will be maintained and available to you and the medical professional. You take the opportunity to discuss your condition with the doctor and get fully updated.
If you have a recommendation from a non-HelloMD medical professional that is up for a renewal, you can still work through HelloMD to get a new medical card if you are in one of the states we service (Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania), you would essentially be treated as a new patient, since we donโt yet have any information about you on file.
Donโt worry: the process only takes about 20 to 30 minutes, including the doctor consult. It may help expedite things if you tell the doctor that you had a previous recommendation, and you are renewing it. Once you have a medical marijuana card through our telehealth consultation, you can go to a licensed dispensary in your state to buy the products you need to address your health condition.
