Q&A

Can my son with severe Cerebral Palsy benefit from CBD oil and what would be the dosage?

There are anecdotal reports that CBD may be helpful in treating cerebral palsy. Benefit may be due to the anti-spasmodic properties of cannabis, which may help reduce dystonia. In fact, the U.S. NIH is currently enrolling pediatric patients with cerebral palsy and genetic neurodegenerative diseases to determine if patients will have an improvement in motor and non-motor functioning and quality of life (ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT02470325). There will be two treatment arms, one in which patients receive a cannabis oil with a THC:CBD ratio of 1:6 and another with 1:20.
