Q&A

Can my medical cannabis purchases be tracked from my medical card or California driver's license?

California doctors, pharmacists, and other treatment providers utilize a Department of Health database program called CURES, short for Controlled Substance Utilization Review and Evaluation System, in order to monitor the prescriptions and purchases of controlled substances including medical marijuana. This information is linked to your name and date of birth. A medical marijuana card database only links your name, address, and DOB to your medical marijuana certificate. Your drivers license database is linked to your driving record. Only the CURES program database links you name and DOB to your medical cannabis purchases.
