Q&A

Asked this a month ago, but to no avail. I'm a regular user and a

"candidate for dialysis and eventually a kidney transplant. Are there any potential conflicts?"

Sorry that you waited this long for your answer. As far as I can tell, there are no conflicts with cannabis use and making kidney disease worse. There have been some reports of cannabis helping damaged kidneys caused by the chemotherapeutic drug cisplatin. That being said, when you do get your kidney transplant you will be immunosuppresive drugs. If you continue to use cannabis afterwards I would mention this to my physician. There have been suggestions that cannabis can cause immunosuppression as well.

If you have pain from your kidney issues prior to your transplant, cannabis can help.
