Q&A

Am I allowed to smoke while pregnant with my card? Legally

The research on marijuana use during pregnancy is very limited and conflicting in conclusions. Some studies show that cannabis use has been associated with premature labor and low birth weight but also, some research shows that cannabis doesn’t have an effect on birth weight or preterm labor. Cannabinoids appear in breast milk and the effects of cannabinoids on breastfeeding infants are unknown. It is technically legal for a pregnant woman to use marijuana if she lives in a state that has legalized marijuana for recreational use or medical marijuana, however, until more data are available, cannabis use by pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers should be avoided.
