Q&A

I have nerve damage from shingles.

" The doctors call it neuralgia. Will this transdermal patch help? I am in so much pain. "

I’m so sorry to hear about your nerve damage from shingles! I had shingles a few years ago and I’ll never forget the pain.

I would recommend using a topical onto your skin, these two brands are on point for giving you relief where it hurts:https://getsweetreleaf.com/ and https://azcannaoil.com/

A CBD tincture would be helpful for you too, as well. It will help with internal pain relief without a psychoactive effect (esp since shingles are a nerve pain this would be key for you)

Also, in the end of my shingles I was being treated by acupuncture, if you haven’t tired that I would advise you to try.

I hope you find pain relief soon!

Hi there!

If you are experiencing chronic pain/nerve damage due to shingles or neuralgia, you may be able to find some relief with transdermal patches! The advantage of using a transdermal patch for nerve pain is that the medicine is delivered through all seven layers of the skin and into the bloodstream to provide full body relief.

To use a transdermal patch, you will want to put it on a veiny area, and your body heat will naturally activate the patch. Once the patch has become activated, it slowly releases small amounts of cannabinoids directly into the bloodstream to be carried throughout the body. Because this medicine is not ingested, the patch will bypass the liver and stomach acids, providing relief within 30 minutes. Depending on your body composition, cannabis use and level of pain, patches can provide relief anywhere from 8-12 hours. For severe pain, it is safe to wear more than one patch at once.

Please check out this article below that provides more information on Transdermal patches for pain relief! Hopefully this helps your nerve damage and pain from shingles.

I hope this information helps! ๐Ÿ™‚

I am so sorry to hear you are in pain and suffering from shingles. It seems that so many people end up with this condition, and it is horrible. Nerve damage from shingles is unfortunately something that does happen but the good news is, there is some preliminary research that indicates that cannabis may be helpful with this condition. I am not a doctor, but I do do a lot of research on how marijuana may be helpful to a variety of conditions.

Shingles is a condition caused by a virus, the same virus that infected so many of us as children, chicken pox. After having chicken pox, the virus lays dormant in the system and may reactivate later in life usually in people in their late 40’s or older. It may exhibit as a rash or even cause blisters and boils, affecting the torso often, but I even know someone that had it on their eyelids! It’s awful!

The good news is, is that marijuana is a neuroprotectant and is an effective pain reliever and has been shown to relieve the painful symptoms associated with shingles. Cannabis interacts with the endocannabinoid receptors in our body, the CB1 and CB2 receptors. It has also been shown in recent research to be an anti inflammatory and help relieve conditions with nerve pain. As always, cannabis is highly individual and there is no one size fits all. It is up to the individual to find what works for them. For some it is high CBD and in others it may be high THC and in others an equal ratio. I always suggest to go low and slow to begin.
