It has been well demonstrated that CBD can provide some benefit in a variety of seizure disorders, including absence seizures, and similarly well demonstrated that CBD is well tolerated by the body without any of the disturbing side effects often encountered with other medicines used for these problems. What has NOT been demonstrated is a treatment regimen with the kind of statistically predictable results that are associated with pharmaceutical prescriptions. From a medical point of view, there is no established protocol for treatment of absence seizures with CBD based on the kinds of studies used to come up with that kind of recommendation. But I would be comfortable adding CBD to a treatment plan that is not providing optimal results to determine if it seems helpful. It might also be worth noting that eliminating or reducing the use of other anti-seizure medications in favor of CBD should be done with the guidance of your treating physician.
