Q&A

What would be the best medical marijuana to vape for spinal stenosis and bulging discs?

I don’t have recommendations for those specific ailments listed but I suggest you take a look at this article that covers good strains for back pain: https://www.hellomd.dev/health-wellness/the-best-marijuana-strains-for-back-pain

The five listed are: Headband, Candyland, OG Kush, Bubba Kush, Skywalker OG, and ACDC.

My family and I have used ACDC for pain (both back and non-back related) with good results.

I think these recommendations from @danielledlim and the aforementioned article are great places to start. Because there are so many different strains on the market and because many pts prefer not to use flower, I have some over-arching "rules of thumb"/principles to help my patients out:

  • For newer users, it’s always good to go "low and slow" , pick flowers/ tinctures/ vape-pens/ other products that have the lowest total mg of cannabinoids total
  • If one is not sure where to start, a CBD:THC ratio of 2:1 or 3:1 has been a good place to start for me and my pts.
  • Slowly start experimenting with other CBD:THC (and other cannabinoid ratios); if there’s more "radiculopathy" (numbness & tingling signs), I’ve read research that slightly increasing your THC amount might be good
I hope these tips also help!
