Q&A

Will CBD oil interfere with my treatment of Herceptin and Perjeta?

"@cindymilkey "

From what I can tell, cannabis affects only the cytochrome enzyme system, specifically the cytochrome 1A2 & 3A4 system in the liver. However, biosimilars , according to my literature search, are broken down by peptides and amino acids in the body in what has been described as a "complicated process." As such, there shouldn’t be any interactions between the peptides/ amino acids that help metabolize biosimilars like herceptin and the cytochrome enzymes that help break down cannabis; or more simply put, the metabolism by one path shouldn’t affect the other path. I hope that this helps!
