I could not find literature specifically mentioning CBD in regards to osteoporosis. However, there is a significant amount of pre-clinical research describing the endocannabinoid system’s (ECS) role in balancing the formation and resorption of bone.
Interestingly, when the Cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) or Cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB2) is deactivated, bone formation was favored in younger mice. However, in older mice, CB1 or CB2 receptor deactivation resulted in accelerated bone loss.

This makes sense as the ECS’ role is largely devoted to homeostasis ().When we are young, our body is building bone. So when the ECS’ homeostatic influence is removed — via CB1 or CB2 receptor deactivation — excessive formation is the result.
Contrastingly, because bone resorption is favored over bone formation later in life, removal of the ECS’ homeostatic influence resulted in accelerated bone loss in elderly mice. These results suggest that cannabis may help slow the progression of osteoporosis.

This makes sense as the ECS is largely devoted to maintaining homeostasis (the tendency of organisms to auto-regulate and maintain their internal environment at equilibrium).
As animals grow, bone formation is, of course, favored over resorption. Accordingly, when the ECS’ homeostatic influence was removed from young mice — via CB1 or CB2 receptor deactivation — excessive formation was the result. However, in the elderly, bone resorption is favored over formation. Accordingly, when the ECS’ homeostatic influence was removed at this stage, accelerated bone loss was the result. These findings suggest that cannabis may be useful in slowing the progression of osteoporosis.

thank you so much for your research. I am 68 so I think my osteoporosis, Hashimoto’s and arthritis could be helped with CBD. I also have I would really appreciate information on what form, what strength, what dosage ….
