Tinctures are a great way to dose cannabis. You can get consistent results. Everyone is different so with tinctures you can start with a very low dose (depending on the strength of your tincture.) The tinctures should list on the label how many mg’s of CBD is in a mL. You can then calculate how many mg of CBD is in each drop. When increasing your dose with tinctures increase it by a drop at a time to find the dose that works best for you. If it is in a oil base, you can put it directly under your tongue, if it is in a alcohol base, always dilute in a small amount of liquid first, say 1-2 TBSP of water, juice or tea…

The idea of holding the tincture in your mouth is that the cannabis will be absorbed into the bloodstream directly through the oral mucous membrane. Onset of effects will be in 10 minutes or so. If swallowed, a tincture is just an edible, and will have to wait for absorption (with much of it also going to the liver before it gets to the general circulation). Since many tinctures are made with alcohol, people often find them uncomfortable to hold in the mouth for the few minutes required for absorption. Tinctures made with alternate vehicles, such as glycerine, may be easier to use in this way.
