Hi there!

In 2015, Louisiana had signed Act 261, a bill allowing physicians to recommend medical marijuana in the Bayou state.

Earlier this year in 2018, a second bill was signed and approved to expand their current medical program. The second bill would add more conditions to the approved list, including but not limited to PTSD, Parkinson’s, glaucoma, chronic pain and severe muscle spasms.

At this time, medical marijuana sales are expected to begin in Louisiana in the late summer/early fall of 2018. The only legal growers of medical marijuana will be the agricultural centers located at Louisiana State University and Southern University, and licenses for at least nine dispensaries have been issued in Louisiana (the current law does not allow more than 10 dispensaries in the entire state).

Medical marijuana will be available as oils, extracts, tinctures, sprays, capsules, pills, solutions, gelatin-based chewables, lotions, transdermal patches and suppositories. Unfortunately, it will not allow raw cannabis that can be smoked or vaporized.

You can learn more about Louisiana’s medical marijuana program at this link here: https://ldh.la.gov/index.cfm/page/2892

I hope this information helps! ๐Ÿ™‚
