Have nerve damage from a laparoscopic rotator cuff surgery 13 years ago. Does CBD oil help with nerve pain?

Hello,
Cannabis helps thousands of people deal with neuropathic pain. In fact, in New York — which has only approved medical cannabis for a limited number of conditions — 41% of medical cannabis patients are being treated for neuropathic pain (by far the most commonly treated condition).

Unfortunately, the research regarding isolated CBD and neuropathic pain is sparse. However, in a study published in the British Journal of Pharmacology found that chronic administration CBD prevents paclitaxel-induced neuropathy (PAC) (paclitaxel is a common chemotherapy agent which often causes neuropathic pain). Interestingly, they found that the cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2 were not involved in preventing the pain from developing. Rather, they concluded that CBD is protective against PAC-induced neurotoxicity mediated in part by the 5-HT(1A) receptor system; modulation of the 5-HT(1A) receptor system is how many of the antidepressant drugs are thought to affect neuropathic pain.

However, there is a significant amount of research which has shown that an oromucosal spray with equal parts of THC and CBD can effectively reduce neuropathic pain. "Sativexยฎ, a cannabis derived oromucosal spray containing equal proportions of THC (partial CB1 receptor agonist ) and cannabidiol (CBD, a non-euphoriant, anti-inflammatory analgesic with CB1 receptor antagonist and endocannabinoid modulating effects) was approved in Canada in 2005 for treatment of central neuropathic pain in multiple sclerosis, and in 2007 for intractable cancer pain. Numerous randomized clinical trials have demonstrated safety and efficacy for Sativex in central and peripheral neuropathic pain, rheumatoid arthritis and cancer pain."

As such, I would likely recommend a 1:1 oromucosal spray such as

and a 50/50 cream such as
