Many dispensaries set aside a certain amount of cannabis for compassionate (free) distribution, although I don’t know how they determine who falls into this category. Berkeley city council recently mandated that dispensaries set aside 2% of their product for low income residents that have a medical marijuana recommendation. They define this as individuals making less than $32,000 annually or families making less than $46,000.
