Q&A

Can cannabis help alleviate sarcoidosis?

"If so, what type of cannabis product and preparation (i.e. tincture, vaping, topical, etc.) should I use?"

Yes, medical cannabis can alleviate some symptoms of Sarcoidosis. Sarcoidosis is an inflammatory disease that affects multiple organs in the body, but mostly the lungs and lymph glands. Although there is no cure for the disease, it’s symptoms can be managed. Joint pain and pain in the hands, feet, or other bony areas due to the formation of cysts in bones are common reported symptoms of Sarcoidosis. Medical cannabis may help alleviate chronic pain. I would recommend tinctures, topicals or capsules, however, I’d be resistant to recommend vaping/smoking medical cannabis due to the Sarcoidosis’ effect on the lungs. Tablets and capsules are the typical choice for supplementation, but liquid extracts provide fast and easy absorption. Patients report that cannabis topicals can also be effective for pain.
